ok, I'm gonna attempt it now, though I don't feel I have words to even slightly do Darren's performance justice....
the boring bit:
We left home at about 11:45 and caught the 12:08 train to London Victoria...I always love travelling to London, except on the underground...I hate that.
We then went on the underground to Hammersmith and were a bit early so went to the pub....had a fair few pints which gave me the dutch courage I needed to speak to people..something I'd never been able to do before but was determined to this time as I'd regretted not doing so in the past.
waiting for soundcheck:
I spoke to quite alot of people and I enjoyed every minute of it...it was strange seeing these faces I 'knew' yet hadn't spoken to if you get what I mean....
people were so, so friendly, especially Jo and Vonnie.....I felt a right plum waiting about for soundcheck on my own but these two were so kind.:)
Anyway, after mingling for about an hour or so it was time for us to go in.
It was short n sweet and I loved it, I was singing away...Darren sang Chained To You, it was great.....
Another boring bit:
Me and Marc then went back to the pub, had a McDonalds cos we were starving, then went back to the pub again til it was time to go back.
Didn't have to wait long before the doors were open, went straight for the merchandise and bought the blue t-shirt (wish I got the SG one as well), a poster and a tour guide (which I must add is great). When the woman serving me asked for £23 I thought that was really cheap so got myself a mug too...
Supporting artist Shelly Poole:
Though I wasn't that struck on the songs themselves, I do think she's got a great voice and I reckon we'll be seeing more of her in the future....
Supporting artist Astrid Williamson:
This is the supporting act both me and Marc had been waiting for. Again, I wasn't that struck on her songs, though the last one was alright but it went on a bit.....great voice though.
ok, now the long part lol
Darren Hayes:
Geez, where the hell do I start?!.....
I was the 2nd seat in on the end of the middle aisle but didn't think Darren would come down that one for his entrance....but I was wrong...what a great start to the performance lol He had my full attention from the very beginning.
The 'I Like Your Old Stuff' was a fun song to start with, it grabs you right away as it's catchy lol
Then it was the song - Affa....as soon as he started singing I had tears in my eyes from feeling overwhelmed...reason being it was so good to hear Darren's voice and be at a concert again. It just felt so, so good being in that atmosphere again...as he began singing I remember thinking 'this is what it's all about and it doesn't get much better than this!'
Then he sang Chained To You and Lover After Me....was great to hear these SG songs.
Then it was Creeping Up On You...wow, this song is kinda special to me as it was the first song I'd ever heard live (TCFC) and hearing those first few notes always brings back wonderful memories.....it felt GREAT hearing that!
Love and Attraction was next, I love hearing any song from The Tension And The Spark.
Then followed Strange Relationship, to which the crowd cheered...hearing those first violin notes at the start of the song sends shivers down my spine....just how good is this song live?!! I love this song live! and of course when he sung 'Do you love me?' everyone cheered lol
Wow, TTMAB....I don't think I can get the right words out for this...beautiful, amazing, stunning...I can't begin to do this one justice....
The new song.....whoa! How high was that note?! I don't think I've heard Darren sing so high! lol that has to be released someday!
O-M-G...IKILY....Darren sang a few notes with the voice thing but for some reason thought it sounded too terrible so decided not to do it...when deciding what to sing instead there were people shouting out for Insatiable. Darren chose to sing IKILY acapella and he totally and utterly blew me away, I have never, ever heard him sing so fantastically well...how can I even begin to explain it? - I can't..it was the type of thing where you just have to be there to know what I mean...I just hope he sings it that way for the rest of the tour as I'd love you lot to hear it too.
Then it was Void and Darkness.......wow, weren't these two songs great?! It felt so good hearing them...especially Darkness......utterly amazing, he added a few bits so was a little different to the cd version...was better!
Then it was the moment I had been waiting for, the moment I had dreamed of hearing again after hearing it at DL...a moment I at one time thought I would never hear live again....when I read a spoiler that Darren was singing it on tour I nearly burst!
OMG, when those first notes came on, wow, a HUGE goosbump moment....the lights the song...I'm talking about BMSM with NIN.
This was the best part of the entire night.....God I love that version...the atmosphere when Darren sings that is like, well, it's out of this world - an experience and feeling I hope and pray I'll get at least one more time in this lifetime..I have to hear it live just one more time!
Then Unlovable was sung....pure emotion is all that needs to be said there (though it wasn't as sad as the last tour which made me feel 'easier' in listening to it and enjoying it......the video looked good too but I was watching and listening to Daren more than concentrating on that so didn't catch the 'story' too well....can someone fill me in?
Crash and Burn was next....I adore this song and felt a little overwhelmed when Darren sang this....my eyes filled up but I kept myself composed lol
TMD was up next...classic song and is always good to hear.
Then Popular...I love this one live....it's just great and Darren is great too....so wonderful, so, so, I can't explain it!
Those moves though! I hope to hear this again live one day too.
Violet / Tears of Pearls/ I Want You...I'm glad he got those last two in out of those three....all time SG classics that I will never tire of....in fact, I've been listening to I Want You a hell of alot these last couple of weeks....It was great fun singing along to that...excellent!
The last song came joint first with BMSM as the best part of the night....how well did Darren sing So Beautiful?!!! I had been looking forward to hearing this song live and boy did Darren outdo himself! He did that happy bouncing thing that's in the video. Again, it was a 'you had to be there' moment cause I can't find the right words for it and don't think I ever will.
I won't go into detail about the date thing....as much fun that it was, I'd rather have heard Darren sing one or two more songs than watch that...don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it was great, it was fun, the girl date was a good one to pick lol but like I said, I'd rather have had another song or two.
I loved Keith! He was great lol
I sang my heart and couldn't keep still for the entire performance.....bliss, pure bliss....
As soon as it was all over me and Marc were out of there quicker than you could blink to be sure we got that last train home....
We both crashed out as soon as the train started to move and I woke up half way home to someone opposite saying 'awww, look at those two':o :D
We arrived home at 1:50, the dog was making weird excitable noises when we walked in the front door, lol, I've never seen her that excited to see us beofore lol
We both fell into bed absolutely knackered at 2am......
This is the best I have ever heard Darren's voice....I can't believe how he can just get better and better...his voice was out of this world, I really mean it. I'm just stunned at how amazing Darren sounded.
Darren, you're a star!
What a night!!
oh yeah, have to add about the footage at the end...it's brilliant, make sure you watch it carefully!
To those who haven't seen it yet....watch out for Darren's smile when he's trying to look serious at Wally...it's a gorgeous smile!
